A Flavorful Kafta Bel Sanieh
An easy, hearty comforting meal full of flavor that is guaranteed to remind you of the taste of home. With the meat mixture full of spice, the juiciness of the tomatoes and those crunchy potatoes, you'll need a pita break to get that extra sauce off the pan.
1 Lb ground round beef
1 Tbsp parsley, chopped
4 Oz tomato sauce
1 Small onion, chopped
1/2 Tsp salt
1/3 Tsp black pepper
2 Medium potatoes
1 Cup water
1 Tbsp shortening
Mix your meat, parsley, onion, salt and pepper to bring out the flavor.
Spread shortening on bottom and sides of a small baking dish.
Place meat in bottom of dish and spread up on sides of dish so it is not too thick (like a piecrust).
Peel potatoes, slice and place over meat; mix tomato sauce, salt, pepper and water and pour this over meat and potatoes.
Place in preheated oven at 400 degrees for 1 hour until liquid is nearly absorbed.
We suggest serving this with white rice on the side.
